Hot Air Ballooning
Dr. Bill Bussey and his brother are
some of the best known balloon pilots in the U. S. They offer
their services in the form of a morning flight over some of the
most beautiful terrain in Texas. You will be in good hands with
these folks as they have logged many hours aloft and hold some
significant records in the ballooning realm. The experience is
very romantic as you glide almost silently over the countryside
as you watch the sun rise over the rolling hills of East Texas.
We can even pack you a special "Breakfast Basket" to
carry along. This activity is very "weather dependent"
so don't be surprised if it takes more than one trip to East
Texas in order to get off the ground. Prior arrangements are
a must!! The folks at Balloon Adventures USA
can be reached at 903 758-4841. |

Golf
In East Texas you can always find
a course nearby. And even when the game isn't going well you
can soak up the surroundings. Gladewater Country Club is a nine
hole golf course that affords visitor fees that are very much
like you would expect in a public course setting. If you like
to play "pro-style" courses, you might arrange to play
a round at the Garden Valley golf resort on your way to
or from the B&B. It is located convenient to I-20 at the
Hwy 110 exit. Their Dogwood Course, designed by John Sanford,
offers 133,000 feet of bent grass greens. The fees for this course
are more upscale in keeping with its pro status. But, Garden
Valley also provides a moderate priced offering in the Hummingbird
Course. You can reach them at 800 443-8577. |

The East Texas Oil Museum
Located on the Kilgore College campus,
this museum offers a true representation of what life was like
in East Texas during the Oil Boom of the 20's & 30's. The
primary exhibit is a slice of small town East Texas where you
actually walk on sidewalks and peer into the various businesses
located along the way. It is very realistic right down to the
"tin Lizzie" sitting axle deep in the muddy street.
The tour finishes at the theater where you can enjoy a soda and
then see a short film presentation about the process of extracting
oil from the ground. It's all done very well and there is never
a boring moment. For more info call 903 983-8295. |
